RHODESIAN SECURITY FORCES COUNTER-INSURGENCY MANUAL This is a slightly edited and reformatted version of the Rhodesian Security Forces COIN manual; Part II - ATOPS (Anti-Terrorist Operations in rural areas), dated June 1975. This is the same document used by the Rhodesian elite forces and the Selous Scouts. Much of the tactics and techniques within this manual were developed and employed during there long counter-insurgency conflict. There are many lessons learned and proven techniques within in this manual that still apply today in a counter-insurgency environment. After the independence of the country, when many Rhodesian units fled for South Africa were many of them were absorbed into the military there, much of the lessons learned from the Rhodesians was passed on to the South Africans, especial in the case of former Selous Scouts passing much of there hard learned lessons on to the S.African special forces, the RECCES. Now it is apparent why the S.African RECCES were so good at what they did.
**NOTE** The source for the basis of the HTML for this manual was obtained from Mr. Dovey, John, his work can be viewed at his site.
